Animalfriendships

-studio theatre play about the lives of animal characters from our folk tales-

It's great to watch the world of animals, the behaviour of our pets, to listen to their conversations, to watch them create their habitat, to watch them care for their babies. Animals often help us in our lives, and through their domestication they become our true companions.
How they make friends, why it is important for them to be friends? How do they choose their own team captain? Do they share their booty with anyone? Does the strong always protect the weak? What do they do to defend their space?
In our presentation, we weave together animal tales with humour, mischief and excitement.

The Tree of Life

In the middle of the Garden of Eden there is the Tree, which might even lack its top, since this tree is commonly believed to be endless in the old king's realm because it grows up to the skies. Or could it perhaps even reach up further than the sky itself? Since no one has ever seen its top… The garden is taken care of by the Princess, who one day promises never to take a husband till the end of time. Once this idea crosses her mind, whoosh, a dark storm swoops down from above and the Princess vanishes from sight. In the time of deep sorrow all the people in the realm start to grieve, when suddenly John with a cry 'Here I come, world!' follows the storm and takes her back to the ground. Our tale belongs to one of the oldest segments of folklore, and as such, in it there are rite-of-passage, life-changing elements that support both the girl and John in their tests during their journey.

The slipper-snatching princesses

Who has ever seen a bag that never fills up, and a fur coat that, if you wrap it around you, becomes invisible? Who has ever met a devilish spirit that casts a dream dust on all who come in its way? How does a pair of slippers fall apart overnight? The shepherd boy, like the hero of every fairy tale, faces many things, travels through forests and fields, and sees wonders that are unbelievable even to him. And how does he win the hand of the youngest princess? Well, that's a real mystery!

The ugly little girl

The ugly little girl...?
Why ugly?
Who thinks she is ugly?
Why does she go hiding?
Why does she encounter the hedgehogs? Why do the hedgehogs help her? Why is she alright in the woods? Why does she help the timberling, the ladybug and the hatchling? Who is the little boy in the Szűcs family, and why has Isabel grown so tall? And who is going to the masquerade ball?
So many questions... Let's see if we can answer each and every one of them!

Rocking-away

The quote 'my childhood rocking me' that we all know comes from the poem 'I know not what...' by Radnóti Miklós. The image of rocking one as a child conjures up the past as well as unites that childhood cradle so far away rocking with one's emotions who remembers in the present. In our show we speak the language of poetry, the flow of imagination, the metamorphosis of objects. Objects can express themselves by tweeting, squeaking, or by simply moving. In the performance, in the confine of words, music and silence, a special crossing of borders is happening. With the power of poetry we can call rhythmic moods, motions, images into being, in which threads of a story are revealed, enhanced by the play of objects and puppets.

Where she goes, flower grows

There are miracles, which we perceive and just wonder. The miracle that happens to the beautiful girl in our tale makes the mind stop: wherever she steps a flower springs up there, flowers fall from her golden hair, whose beauty no one has seen before, her tears are diamonds.
None of these miraculous things are known of until the Prince, unable to resist her beauty, proposes to her. Then enchanted events happen, everything turns upside down, the world falls apart, and the witch curses all and everything.
Who knows what it is all about? What comes now?

Baby Entertainment Hour

For the event when we play, such a special space with all kinds of opportunities is created that encourages the participants to act, in which space the baby and the infant can experience their own completeness in a kind of universal stratification.
In our play the texts and rhyms provide the rhythmic notions of the archaic world, thus sounding the parts of the mind. The lines we say in the performance almost all derive from our grandmothers.
In the 60-minute-long performance our aim is to play with the child and his/her parents by applying gentle instruments in an atmosphere that projects joy and trust.
Five adult players control the pulsation of time, and a musician provides the musical atmosphere. Once a month - on Friday, Sunday and Monday - we invite children and their parents to this programme.

Leaping on the breeze

-free play of body, movement and music-

The body is the space through which we experience the world; it is the means by which we communicate, by which we share our being, our feelings, our thoughts. We human beings, with the symbolism of our embodied human reality in form, look to the body in which we are innately contained, because we are embodied, we are self-functioning.
Movement and dance, as an expressive art form, are linked to our own rituals. The body and the psyche are the primary motifs that constitute the constituent elements of human existence, bodily experiences that ensure the development of adaptation to the environment. In our work we open up the freedom of movement of the body in the musical atmosphere.

,,Summer is gone, here comes autumn, and the vineyard guard with his crook”

-grape harvest festival-

When all fruits mellow, the town-crier, with loud drumming, invites the grape-pickers to the harvest festival with pranks and mischiefs.
At the festival they will host the master barber who is admired worlwide as well as the Gipsy fortuneteller woman and the nimble-footed midget-couple.
But there others invited, such as the vineyard guard, the fiddler and his band, and couples of all ranks…

Eden Act

-Christmas fair-

The darkest days of the year just set in, and it is worth getting rid of our bad deeds: everyone is judged, and it turns out who among us belong to the naughty devils or the meek angels.
During the fun it also turns out that it used to be the time for the Eden Act, too. In the course of a funny story we retell the Genesis, by singing along and dancing together we pass it on to the angels that we are awaiting the birth of the Light (solstice) and the little Jesus.

,,Let us go and see Him!“

-Christmas-time nativity scene and dancing of the puppets-

In the month of Christmas, all dressed up in our Sunday best, smelling of orange and cinnamon, we are waiting for You all at the Playhouse in order to prepare ourselves for the Solstice.
We shall tell, as people in the old times used to say, about the birth of the Christ of Light.
In the church of Betlehem we shall dance with the three shepherds, the mean Herod the Great, and we shall summon the Magi.

,,Dancing suits the Carneval, all its rags dangle”

-carnevalesque masquerade of animals-

A foul-mouthed, pretentious woman lost her know-all goat, the neighbour's dancing bear just fell ill, and is making no move, a Gipsy woman would read anyone's hand, but no-one dares to hear about their fate.
Why, so many strange things occur to us during carnival time that one must have guts to bear it all!

- is sung by all who are in love, in the springtime.
Those who live in the Great Hungarian Plain, when waiting for Easter, always sing 'Today's is Easter Day'.
In the spring, everything can be turnedover, as the power of sunshine is growing.

-electing the King and Queen of Pentecost-

At Pentecost all things in Creation get married. The gates of heaven open, the light almost absorbs and lifts everything from below that lives on the groun up into the sky. After the excitement of dusting, combing, brushing, running in the sack, it is decided who is suitable.
